Welcome to Marketing Reboot ™

You know how your PC gets cluttered up with Junk and programs and every so often needs a clean up? Old files you don't use, loads of applications that are hardly used, things you forgot you had, all those programs you've added, all add up to slow your machine down or even to crash it altogether.

Well your marketing can get exactly the same way.

Marketing Reboot

If you’re trying to grow your business to the next level or you are the owner of a business that needs a bit of a kick, this is for you.

If you know you need to up your marketing activity and advertise more, but nothing seems to work like it should and there's so many things that people tell you you 'should' be doing, this is for you.

If you’d really prefer someone else to help you focus on the stuff that really matters, but you’d like to understand and believe in what they're doing first, this is for you.

If you know you need to do something but you're worried that if you ask for some help, it's going to cost you a fortune, this definately is for you!

Say Hello to Marketing Reboot ™

Put simply, why not reboot your marketing efforts with a complete, but really simple health-check of your efforts so far.

A unique way of looking at what you do now, what your customers actually want and what you should do to kick your business into action. For a fraction of the cost it would take if you followed every bit of advice offered by the marketing community right now.

I'm going to show you how in a very short amount of time you can go through an incredibly simple 5-step process that will clearly identify:

  • whether the people you think you're talking to actually are the right ones

  • what it is that these people are then actually looking for and what 'hits their buttons'

  • what messages you should be saying to each of these groups that will cut through the clutter of everything else

  • how you should best be reaching them with these messages so that they notice you

  • what makes you different enough from your competitors to make you stand out

At the end of it, you'll come out with an action plan of what to do, how, why and when - and how you will know whether it's been successful or not.

You'll also be able to identify where you think you're going to need to expend your efforts and expenses most - and where not too.

"Nothing New Here" you say?

Well, perhaps you're right - in a "I've heard these promises before" type of way. But why is it that you've been disappointed before?

Have you been blinded by marketing speak, processes, statistics, methodologies, analysis and so on?

Have you had that 'deep sigh' feeling when told how much it's all going to cost you?

Have you been left wondering, "well that's all fine I suppose, but where the hell do I start and where am I going to find the time to do all this?"

What you get with Marketing Reboot is a total, no-nonsense strategy for just "Doing It Right!"

No convoluted campaign proposals

No acres of analysis that you already know

No blinding, scientific marketing gobbeldegook that loses you in 2 minutes

No complicated strategic plans

No suggestions of complicated, technical (and expensive) applications and tools that will solve all your problems overnight

Just pure, 100%, unadulterated, common sense marketing advice. (and a wealth of sources to help you if you want that too!)

Why?

Far too often I think we put all these complicated processes, campaigns and systems in place before we've even begun to just get the basics right.

Put the basics in place first and you probably won't need to do half the stuff that a lot of 'pundits' recommend you do - because quite simply you'll be doing enough already. And it'll be working.

Marketing Reboot will focus you on what matters, not on what the latest trend is. It'll focus you on your business, not on someone elses. It'll focus you on what you need to do, not what everyone else is doing. It'll make you think in a way you probably haven't before and question the way you've been going about doing stuff.

It'll make you reboot your business like a well looked after Desktop.

There's another just as important reason why you should be considering 'rebooting' the way you look at your marketing.

Why you should pay attention to someone like me?

I'm usually pretty uncomfortable about overtly extoling one's own virtues. I always feel that you either over-hype yourself or that no-one really believes it all anyway.

But I wanted to give you a real, no-nonsense picture of where what I will be telling you has come from.

I've been in and around marketing, advertising, website development and branding on and off-line for the best part of 17 years.

In that time I've worked in Senior Account Management roles in Advertising and Integrated Marketing Agencies across a number of different business and consumer sectors.

I've run my own Design & Marketing Consultancy.

I've been Account Director at Digital Marketing Agencies responsible for developing the marketing and online presence of some of the world's leading blue-chip companies.

I've been Marketing Manager, Web Development Manager and Online & CRM Manager for a couple of dot-coms and a worldwide corporate.

I'm not a Proctor & Gamble-trained fmcg marketeer. I'm not an MBA-fuelled Management Consultant. I'm not a Corporate clone who agrees with and extoles whatever the latest 'trend' in the industry is.

I'm what you call an 'in-the-trenches' guy who's worked for and with 2 of the world's largest International airlines, a major mobile telco, a worldwide IT Network Solutions company, a Computer manufacturer, a large food retail organisation, a European digital music download provider and a worldwide Web Hosting company - amongst others.

I've planned, implemented and managed advertising campaigns, direct marketing campaigns, PR campaigns, website builds, media buying campaigns, email marketing campaigns, totally integrated on and off-line marketing and branding strategies, customer acquisition strategies, CRM strategies and website usability analyses.

Globally, European-wide and country-specific.

You see? I'm talking it up too much already, but I hope you at least get the picture.

The experience I offer has come from the ground up. From 17 years of being there, seeing it, doing it, getting it wrong, getting it right, buying the T-shirt, renting the DVD and figuring out why I just did that and why it worked!

If you really want the devil in the detail - take a look at my full CV.

If you're happy and are thinking "Yeh, this guy might just know what he's talking about", go back here to find out more.

The Clueless Manifesto

Sometimes, when you've been involved in your business for a while, you begin to place certain limitations in what you do.

You discount things because of previous 'experiences'. Or you don't do things because you've always done them in a certain way before and it's worked before so why change them. Or you overanalyse things because you feel you must cover it from every angle.

Well, just believing something can sometimes make that something a reality. Without it ever needing to be.

I came across The Clueless Manifesto and realised it pretty much summed up the way I feel and how I look at things.

As these guys on their site say, "Cluelessness is underrated. It's the newbie who does something he didn't know was supposed to be impossible. It's the naive guy asking the one dumb question any clued-in person would diss. And it's that question that leads to the answer no expert would have found."

If your 'clueless' to the history around something, or if you just don't accept the limitations that are often placed on situations, then sometimes amazing things can result.

Sometimes NOT knowing about a "problem" weakens (or even eliminates) it.

Here then is The Clueless Manifesto. Bear it in mind if really want your Marketing rebooted properly!

Here's to the Clueless Ones

The ones who see things differently

They're not fond of rules (granted, that's because they don't actually know about the rules)

They have no respect for the status quo (see previous statement)

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
Because they change things.

Maybe they have to be clueless.

How else can you take on city hall at the age of 12?
Or break the impossible record?
Or build an internet startup without VC bucks?

While some see them as the clueless ones,
we see a fresh perspective.

Because the people who are clueless enough to think
they can change the world, might be the ones who do.

Do not underestimate us.
